Tiësto’s Team Netherlands defeats Sebastian Ingrosso’s Team Sweden at the first DJ soccer game event during Miami Music Week 2012
On Wednesday, March 21 at noon EST dance music’s biggest names “kicked off” Miami Music Week with a soccer game at the Fontainebleau Hotel and Resort that matched Tiësto and Team Netherlands against Sebastian Ingrosso and Team Sweden. This highly competitive match went back and forth, but in the end, it was Tiësto and his Netherlands mates that hoisted the trophy with a 13-11 victory – but more importantly they earned the supreme bragging rights as DJ soccer champion.
Each team played in the signature colors of their country and wore a custom jersey made especially by Adidas for the event. At the end of the game each jersey was signed by each participant and are now being auctioned along with a select number of other items used in the game by (RED) in conjunction with online charity auction site Charitybuzz with all proceeds going to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa. (RED) is currently focusing its efforts on helping to end the transmission of HIV from moms to their babies by 2015, one of the markers of “the beginning of the end of AIDS.”
Participants in the game from team Netherlands included team captain Tiësto, Afrojack, Nicky Romero, Quintino, Sidney Samson, R3HAB, Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano. Sweden was represented by team captain Sebastian Ingrosso, Alesso, Adrian Lux, Dada Life (both), AN21 and Otto Knows. Check out the highlights below…
