Tiesto performs at Birmingham LG Arena.
The world famous Tiësto made it all the way to the Birmingham LG Arena on June the 1st, accompanied by Mark Knight to launch the new ŠKODA Citigo car. Us at Dance Euphoria were fortunate to go along at witness the once in a life time event!
Walking into the arena, there was an instant buzz on the floor, as numerous ŠKODA Citigo’s are scattered around. Just in the centre of the floor, a DJ stood tall on the roof of one of the cars, bringing the dance floor together as he dropped a floor filling house set, getting a big crowd going. Not only could people warm up on the crowded dance floor, they could also drop into the silent disco tent. You could tell this was an intimate event, and that everyone was going to be in for a special night.
As the evening went on, crowds of people swarmed into the main area of the arena, as DJ Mark Knight took up centre stage for an hour, as the warm up act for Tiësto. For anyone that is no stranger of what Mark Knight is capable of, he got the crowd on their feet with a smooth house set that set the tone for the rest of the night.
On warming down, you could tell the crowd were just waiting in anticipation for the main act to get on stage, in Tiësto. As the stage when quiet, a sudden count down hit the screen and speakers as the dance floor started to fill up as Tiësto hit the decks with an explosion and huge cheers from the filled up floor. Taking up a residency in Pacha for 2012, he stood sporting a pacha t-shirt.
His high energy set blew the roof right off the arena, with an mixed house/electro set dropping the likes of Nero, Hardwell and Afrojack and his track ‘Beautiful night’ slipped in with Mark Knight. The room was full of buzz which just showed why Tiësto after years, is still top of his game and proved he has massive fans no matter where in the world he gets up on stage. With the added effects of the screen behind him, and the random explosions and confetti falling from the ceiling, this added to the special night.
We actually caught up with a group of people at the event, who have had the pleasure of seeing him live a few years ago now, and they mentioned the his style has changed a little, going more of the style of someone like Avicii, but in a good way, of someone that is really making an impact right now. This just shows the the upcoming talents can still have an effect on guys that have been in the business for a long time! For anyone that has never witnessed a live set from Tiësto, we urge you to go see him! He knows how to keep a floor bouncing till the early morning.
